Elected Members

Parish Council elections are held 4 yearly to coincide with the Unitary Authority elections. Members therefore serve a four year term.

To qualify for election as a Parish Councillor you must be:

  • a British Citizen, or a citizen of the Commonwealth or the European Union, and
  • 18 years or older on the day you become nominated for election


disqualifications include:

  • being the subject of bankruptcy restriction order
  • being convicted in the UK of any offence (within 5 years of date of election) and having had prison sentence (suspended or not) exceeding three months without the option of a fine.
  • being an employee of the parish council.


Casual Vacancies in the Office of Parish Councillor occasionally arise during any four year term. These vacancies are filled following a strict procedure of public notification. If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor please contact the Clerk who can advise you of any current or anticipated vacancies.
